Balaylage or Foiliage

The word foiliage was created to describe the use of foils as an evolution to the technique known as balayage. This allowed a neutral to cool result rather than the warmth of balayage. As the name suggests the colourists will apply the lightener in foil. The top of the mid-sections are typically teased using a backcomb technique known as teasylights, this creates a subtle barrier for the lightener to buffer against giving a seamless, effortless blend from the top of the mid-section to the natural root. Bleach is applied and covered in lengths of foil for a higher lift, resulting in neutral to cool blonde. Balayage tends to look more natural as your roots and ends won’t be drastically different. The subtle lightness is the perfect way to elevate your look, especially if you’re already blonde, brunette or ginger. If you have very dark or previously coloured hair balaylage isn't recommended but foiliage is.
